When the rescue pulled me from the shelter, they thought they were saving just me. I was quiet. Sweet. A little tired. But safe. Then my body started to change. They took me to the vet. The ultrasound showed four puppies. Okay. Four. Two weeks later… I had eight. Eight tiny babies. Eight little hearts. And somehow, I knew exactly what to do. I stayed close to them. I kept them warm.
