Meet Finley, a 6–7-year-old female Havanese with a gentle spirit who is learning what it truly means to be loved. Finley comes to us from a puppy mill situation, so the world is still a big, unfamiliar place for her. She can be shy and unsure around new people and situations, but beneath that timid exterior is a sweet little dog who is slowly beginning to trust and come out of her shell. Finley finds comfort and confidence in the company of other small dogs, and they truly bring out her playful, happy side. When she’s with her canine friends, you can see glimpses of the joyful, carefree dog she’s meant to be. Because of this, she would do best in a home with another friendly, well-adjusted small dog who can help show her the ropes and continue to build her confidence, though she will do just fine on her own if her family invests the time and love she needs. She is not yet comfortable walking on a leash and will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to work with her at her own pace. *A securely fenced-in yard is a must for Finley, giving her a safe space to explore, build confidence, and enjoy the outdoors without added stress.* She will thrive in a calm, predictable environment with someone who understands that progress may be slow—but incredibly rewarding. With time, patience, and love, Finley will continue to blossom into a devoted companion. Please review our Adoption Procedures: Adoption/Visiting Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, Noon-4pm You may visit our cats, kittens, dogs and puppies over the age of 4 months old during adoption hours prior to completing an adoption application. You must fill out an adoption application and be approved before visiting with puppies aged 4 months old and younger. Applying for Adoption: Fill out an adoption application in person at the shelter during adoption hours. We do not offer adoption applications online. If you live at a distance (1-1/2+ hour away), you can call us at 724-539-2544 to complete an adoption application by phone. Calls are returned within 48 hours. Bring the following pertinent documents with you: Pet Owners: Vet records of all your current pets. Homeowners: Proof of home ownership – a property tax or mortgage document. Utility bills are not accepted. Renters: Landlord’s phone number and copy of your lease. We must speak to your landlord to be considered for adoption. Valid ID: You must be 21 years or older. Dog Owners: If you currently have dogs at your home, we require a meet and greet with the shelter dog you are interested in. You must have an approved adoption application before the meet and greet. The adoption will be finalized after all required information is confirmed and your adoption application is approved.
