From Black Beauty’s foster mom, Rhonda: Black Beauty is such a friendly, easygoing boy who just likes being around his people. He has a calm, relaxed personality and settles in quickly, making himself right at home. One of my favorite things about him is how he meets me at the door. He’s always happy to see you and then just hangs out nearby, keeping you company while you go about your day. He came from a large, friendly outdoor colony and has adjusted so well to indoor life. You can tell he really enjoys being comfortable and having people around. He’s a social guy who appreciates attention but is also perfectly content relaxing close by. And he really is as handsome as his name suggests… his coat is a deep, shiny black and incredibly soft, almost like a Bombay cat. He’s just a beautiful boy. Black Beauty also has a cataract in one eye, and he’s FIV positive, but neither slows him down at all. You’d never know about his eye, and he goes about life like any other happy, relaxed cat. He gets along well with other cats and seems most comfortable in a home without dogs. . FIV+… it sounds scary, but it really isn’t. Cats with FIV can live long, healthy lives and usually don’t need any special care beyond regular vet visits and a safe, indoor home. It’s not something that spreads through normal day-to-day contact like sharing food bowls or grooming, so in a typical home environment, it’s not an issue. I think he would be happiest in a home with a friendly person who will spend time with him. He should also do well with older children. He’s an easy companion to have around and will make a really wonderful addition to someone’s home. At Meowtown, we don’t have a traditional, physical shelter - all of our cats live in loving foster homes. That means they are already used to real home life, and we truly know their personalities, habits, and what makes them special. They are safe, socialized, and ready to be part of a family. They’re not waiting to become housecats… they already are. They just need a house.
