EXPERIENCED HOME NEEDED Meet Shelby German Shepherd | Just over 1 year old | 56 lbs Shelby is not for a first-time dog owner. We are specifically seeking an adopter with extensive experience with working breeds, and ideally someone familiar with fearful or previously abused dogs. She's absolutely stunning, but behind that beauty is a girl who is still learning how to feel safe in the world. It's believed Shelby may have come from an abusive situation, and at just 4 months old, she was attacked by other dogs. Because of that, she can be very reserved with new people and understandably unsure around other dogs. She's the type of dog who takes time to trust... But once she does? You'll see a completely different side of her Loyal and deeply bonded to her person Sweet, gentle, and eager to please Young, intelligent, and highly trainable LOVES playing ball Because of her past and her breed, Shelby will need: A patient, confident handler Structure, consistency, and clear guidance A calm environment where she can build confidence at her own pace She does not do well with small dogs and does not enjoy the company of cats, so a home without small animals is required. She may do best as the only pet or with very slow, structured introductions. We are unsure how she is with children at this time. Shelby isn't going to be the dog who loves everyone right away. She's going to be the dog who chooses you... and that kind of loyalty is something special. And when she feels safe? Grab a ball... and you'll see her light up in the best way She just needs someone who understands her, sees her potential, and is willing to help her feel safe again.
