About Rosie

Meet Rosie! Rosie is a 3-year-old, 13 lb Jack Russell Terrier with a soft, gentle spirit and a calm demeanor. Her early life was harsh—she escaped an abusive situation and survived a high-intake shelter in Texas, all while overcoming heartworm. Thankfully, treatment is complete and she's healthy, now settled in Pennsylvania and ready for her next chapter. Despite her breed, Rosie is truly low energy. She enjoys a quiet routine, but sometimes perks up for quick zoomies with compatible dogs. She finds comfort in a cozy sofa or bed, ideally in a peaceful home. Rosie does best around other easygoing dogs, is crate trained, and leaves things alone (she doesn't chew). Cats are no problem; she mostly ignores them. Affection comes easily for Rosie—she loves curling up beside her favorite person. After 8 months with her rescue, she's grown playful and sweet, though some behaviors from her past persist. She’s afraid of being picked up or leashed, though once outside, she enjoys a stroll. Currently, she's pad trained; housebroken, though sometimes unable to go out because leashing remains tough. Rosie needs a patient and understanding adopter, someone committed to helping her keep building confidence. Her adoption includes a foster-to-adopt period of at least 90 days, with support from the rescue and a professional trainer. The foster family isn’t rushing; they just want what’s best for her, especially a home offering one-on-one attention. She's spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and heartworm-free after protocol treatment. Rosie does have a cherry eye; surgery for this will be covered upon adoption. What she's looking for is a quiet, loving place to call home, where she can finally settle and feel secure. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
