About Mickey

Mickey is the sweetest, most playful little guy. His short legs don’t hold him back—he’s surprisingly athletic when chasing after a ball and always up for a long walk. Having come in as a stray, he’s still adjusting to life as a pet, but he shows an impressive eagerness to learn and please. Mickey already knows sit, down, stay, shake, heel, and is picking up new commands fast. He’s got some working dog in him and gives off those cattle dog vibes—smart, alert, ready to work—but with the smaller, softer frame of a dachshund mix. Despite having those cattle dog smarts, he doesn’t show a strong herding instinct or any nippy behavior. Mickey will do just about anything for treats, making training both easy and fun. He gets excited meeting new people or dogs but improves with every new experience and more training. When he’s not running around or playing, he’s happy to relax by your side on the couch or watch the neighborhood from a window. He is house trained, crate tolerant, non-destructive indoors, and even good about bath time. He’s an all-around good boy, looking for a home to show off how great a companion he can be.
