About Brooklyn

Brooklyn is a 1-year, 4-month-old Labrador Retriever mix who happens to be deaf—but that’s never slowed her down. She weighs 53 pounds and has mastered reading hand signals like “sit,” “come,” and “no.” Brooklyn is quick to learn from other dogs and takes her cues from them, too. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and her playful, sunny personality shines through every day. Tennis balls, cardboard boxes, or just a cozy spot to curl up—she brings a joyful, quirky energy wherever she goes. She loves kids, gets along well with other dogs, and is especially fond of snuggling up for a nap after a good play session. Brooklyn still finds leashes a bit scary but is making steady progress with practice and patience using a halter. Because she has a heart murmur (not needing medication now, but possibly later), she’ll need a family who understands her needs and will keep a close eye on her health. Brooklyn will let you know when the water bowl needs a refill and doesn’t seem to realize she isn’t a lapdog. She thrives outdoors and soaks up every minute with her people—and extra treats and tennis balls don’t hurt, either. This sweet, silly, affectionate girl needs someone willing to embrace her differences and help her keep growing. Give her a chance and she’ll return it with pure love, laughter, and tail wags.
