About Hal

Meet Hal, a striking, three-legged Belgian Malinois full of life and determination. Estimated between 1.5 to 3 years old, Hal is bursting with energy—running, playing, and sniffing his way through the world. Losing a front leg hasn’t slowed him down at all. His rescue journey started after being badly injured, likely by a car, which led to his amputation and a dental procedure to remove a broken canine tooth. Hal’s foster has invested a lot of time teaching leash skills, settling, car rides, and even enrolled him in an Intro to Nose Work class, where he quickly excelled. Hal is whip-smart, eager to learn, and responds well to positive reinforcement. However, he needs a dedicated and experienced adopter who is prepared to keep up with his training using only force-free methods. Hal should not live with cats, birds, or small animals—he gets too excited around them. He may do well with a dog-savvy, large, or medium-sized dog after careful introductions, though he’d also enjoy being the center of someone’s world. Hal is house trained, neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee includes a session with a certified, force-free trainer. He’s currently being fostered in Oakville, WA, and is available for adoption to western WA, NW OR, or adopters within reasonable driving distance. Ready to fall in love?
