About Winky

Winky entered Corona Shelter as a stray, and when he wasn't claimed, we welcomed him as a Frosted Face on April 11th. He is estimated to be 12 years old and weighs 10 lbs. Winky went on a Frosted Fling so we could learn more about him while he enjoyed spending time in the comfort of a loving home. His foster mom shares: "Winky has gotten really comfortable over the past 3 weeks with our routine, and I think he just needs a little time to settle in. Winky is the opposite of a Velcro dog in that he's pretty independent and won't ask you for cuddles, but he's a quiet little cutie who doesn't seem to mind when I pick him up or give him kisses. He's happy to snooze the day away, with a bit of wandering around from time to time to stretch his little legs. Winky doesn't ask for much, just a cozy bed and a delicious meal. He would love to be someone's forever family member. Here's how a day with Winky goes at my house: When we all get up to start our day, I have to physically touch Winky to wake him up. If he's comfy in bed, he's completely knocked out. If only we could all sleep so well! He doesn't hear me say his name, so I have to poke him a bit. I carry him to the backyard so he can do his business, after which he wanders around for some fresh air. Winky is vision impaired, but he's managed to map out the yard. He seems to enjoy getting some sun and fresh air. Winky is thin, but don't let that fool you - he has a great appetite! I put his meals in a slow feeder bowl, so he doesn't eat too fast, and I feed him separately so the other dogs don't try to eat his food. After breakfast I let him hang out in the yard for a while longer so that he can digest and do his post-meal business. Then, I bring him back into the house so he can drink some water and settle into bed. If I'm home, I let him sleep for a few hours, and then I take him outside. At dinnertime, we do the same thing. Winky gets along with my two little senior dogs just fine. They are quiet and keep to themselves, and I think Winky would best in a quiet home without a lot of activity. He'd love to find a family with lots of squishy beds to sink into!" To meet Winky, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
