About Joanie
Joanie is a 3-year-old, 45-pound pit bull terrier mix who landed at North Central when her previous owner could no longer keep her. Volunteers took to her right away—she became everyone’s favorite for her blend of playful energy and easy affection. She was quick to shine during time in the K9 Youth Alliance Program, enjoying group play and even mediating as the group "helper." In her current foster home in Los Angeles, Joanie is thriving. She’s house trained, walks great on a leash, gladly rests in her crate, and has no trouble being left alone. Joanie loves other dogs—big or small—and would thrive with a playful canine buddy but would also do well as a spoilt only dog if given companionship. She comes alive on play dates, greets gently, and likes to show off her friendly, social side. Once she trusts you, she’s all snuggles and affection, happiest curled up on your lap after a good chew session. She needs a gentle introduction to new faces but warms up into a soft, loving companion. Joanie pairs her medium energy with a calm soul, making her equally happy adventuring or just hanging out. Kids shouldn’t be a problem for her, given how sweet and social she is, provided the introductions are done well. Joanie’s next home is lucky—she’ll bring plenty of love and a lot of fun.
