About Xena
PHOENIX aka MEEP, this sweet lady was found in a rabbit hole in Hartford's Colt Park. She was struggling to protect her kittens. Food was scarce and sickness was widespread; mom had little to give her infant kittens. She came close to giving her life to save them, fortunately the Cat Connection had a special trapper that saved this little family. It took a team; foster care worked round the clock and kittens went home healthy and happy. Phoenix rose up and fought her way back to health. She just needs a place to call home; she may not be a cuddler but she will forever love being part of a place called HOME! Here's a polished adoption profile you can use for Petfinder: Meet Phoenix (aka Meep) Phoenix has truly earned her name. Found in a rabbit hole in Colt Park in Hartford, this brave mama was doing everything she could to protect her kittens in the face of overwhelming odds. With little food and illness all around, she gave everything she had to keep her babies alive--even when it nearly cost her her own life. Thanks to a dedicated team effort, Phoenix and her kittens were rescued just in time. With round-the-clock foster care and lots of love, her kittens grew strong and found their happy endings. Phoenix, too, fought her way back to health--rising from hardship with quiet strength and resilience. Now, it's her turn. Phoenix is a gentle, independent soul who may not be the type to curl up in your lap, but she finds comfort in simply being near her people. She will thrive in a calm home where she can feel safe, respected, and loved on her own terms. What she offers in return is something truly special--a steady, peaceful presence and a quiet kind of love that comes from finally knowing she's home. After everything she's been through, Phoenix deserves a soft place to land and a family to call her own. Give this resilient girl the forever home she's been waiting for. SKYLAR, when Statshu was returned from a dog home where he was very unhappy, he found a friend in Skylar. He was use to a cat colony; she groomed him snuggled with him and fell asleep with him night after night. Skylar was a cat dumped in the street unfixed at a young age. She lived in true terror, the humans she approached were cruel, she is untrusting of humans, loves her cat companions, and lives by the rules, don't touch me and I will not touch you. She is still young and playtime is possibly the way to connect! Here's a polished Petfinder adoption profile for Skylar: Meet Skylar Skylar is a quiet, sensitive soul who has endured more than her fair share of hardship at a young age. Found abandoned on the streets, unfixed and left to fend for herself, she quickly learned that the world could be a frightening place--especially when the humans she turned to were not kind. Because of this, Skylar is understandably cautious and untrusting of people. She lives by a simple rule: "You don't touch me, and I won't touch you." She will need a very patient, understanding home that respects her boundaries and allows her to build trust at her own pace. But while humans may still be a mystery to her, Skylar's heart shines brightly when it comes to other cats. She absolutely loves feline companionship. When Statshu returned from a stressful home, it was Skylar who comforted him--grooming him, snuggling close, and offering the kind of quiet support only another cat can give. Night after night, she showed him safety, warmth, and friendship. Skylar is still young, and there is hope that with time, patience, and gentle encouragement, she may continue to come out of her shell. Playtime may be the key to unlocking her confidence and helping her form a bond with her person. She would do best in a calm home with other friendly cats and a caregiver who understands that love doesn't always look like cuddles--it can be quiet, respectful, and built over time. If you have a soft spot for the shy ones and the patience to let her blossom, Skylar could be a beautiful addition to your home. Select cats can be fostered instead! Apply on our website. A cat's behavior in the shelter may not be what it will be like in your home; if the cat is nervous, anxious, or agitated, please know that a shelter is a very stressful place for a cat. Most often, in a home, they thrive! Kitten Policy: Kittens must be able to socialize with other young cats or dogs as playmates, as it is important for their development. Therefore, CT Cat Connection has a policy that kittens and teenagers up to 12 months of age are adopted in pairs unless there is another animal in the household as a playmate and companion. Due to demand, we do not place cats or kittens on hold. Your visit to the shelter is to meet all cats or kittens available for adoption at the time of visit. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping the shelter, we are always looking for foster families of our cats and dogs, as well as in-person volunteers, to assist with animal care. Fill out an application, which can be found at https://www.ctcatconnection.org/get-involved/
