Xena
AvailableXena is a 1 year and 4 month old, medium-sized, spayed female pit bull terrier/American mix currently located in New Kensington, PA. Her vaccinations are up to date, and she is looking for a calm, patient home after a challenging start to life.
About Xena
Xena was once the neglected stray seen by so many wandering around New Kensington in the dead of winter. Volunteers refused to give up on her, and a whole community came together to save her life and cover her vet bills. She arrived emaciated and fighting off infection, but she had a strong will and pushed through. As her health returned, so did her trust. After weeks getting care in a loving foster home, Xena has learned what warmth and safety feel like. She gets along well with other dogs and finds comfort in their company—she'll do best with a confident, established dog in the home. Her past makes her a bit timid, especially with men she doesn't know, but she's come a long way and now curls up happily with her foster family. She does have some separation anxiety, so she'll need someone home much of the time. Cats remain a mystery, so careful introductions would be needed. Xena picks up on house training fast and just wants to be beside her people. Because she's still building confidence, a home without small children is best. What she needs most is a calm, patient place to continue her recovery at her own pace. This little survivor is ready for her next chapter. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
