Meet Robbie! Hes a 35lb male mix and is just under a year old. He has completed a 3 week board and train program to help him gain confidence and hone his skills. He is doing beautifully in his foster placement, and is ready to land in the perfect forever home! Robbie is crate-trained, potty-trained, and walks well on a leash!! Hes an active pup who will need plenty of exercise and a fenced yard to safely run around! After you tire him out, he will happily snuggle with you on the couch- hes quite the mush! This super-fun boy enjoys tough, durable toys that are designed for heavy chewers. He's not into tennis balls, but likes something he can try to sink his cute "teefs" into and shake around. When meeting new people in his foster home, Robbie will have his tail a-wagging and will show his big beautiful brown eyes. Beyond the those soulful eyes, Robbie has an extremely sweet nature that is just starting to shine through in foster. He also has a playful and slightly silly side that adds to his overall charm. On a lazy Sunday, Robbie truly thrives outside with a furry best friend that he loves and trusts. Indoors, he naturally gravitates to shared spaces to be near his resident bestie, happily continuing the funalways with close supervision from his foster parents. Robbie is not yet neutered, but is UTD on vaccinations. The good news is that because we are a licensed, registered 501(c)3 rescue with the state of NJ, he is eligible to be neutered for just $20 with proof of adoption (adoption contract) through the NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant Program. It's super-easy, just present our contract at a participating vet and make the neuter appt! Our local vet participates, and you may just find yours does too! Robbie is an active fun-loving, mischievous and goofy puppy, so put your favorite shoes out of reach!! Like with all puppies, what's left out is "fair game," so it's up to you to child-proof and provide redirection (like a toddler, lol) until he understands what he can and can't play with. Robbie is other-dog friendly, but selective, and matches best with a steady, confident, non-threatening dog that can take the lead and make him feel safe. His early puppy years were desperately sad, as he had to survive on the streets with his mom and siblings. As a baby he learned that warding off aggressive street dogs and wild animals meant life or death. Robbie naturally seeks out sweet non-agressive "safe" dogs to bond with, but will react to aggressive dogs who make him feel unsafe or threatened. Like in humans, PTSD is a real thing and understanding his fears means providing a safe environment for him where he can relax and live his best life. A meet-and-greet will show you within about 5-seconds flat if your own bestie might just become his bestie too. We let the dogs choose their best-fit family (with a little help from their human advocates). You'll never find a more grateful and loving loyal companion.
