He was surrendered to a kill shelter by someone who simply said they didn’t want him anymore, with no explanation for his injury. Despite everything he’s been through, Sugar Ray has chosen kindness. It’s clear he likely lived an indoor outdoor life, or possibly mostly outdoors, which is probably how he ended up FIV positive. The good news is that FIV is often misunderstood. FIV positive cats can live long, happy, healthy lives and can safely live with other cats. It is not spread through everyday contact like sharing food bowls, grooming, or lounging together. Sugar Ray is ready to enjoy the safe, cozy indoor life he has always deserved. Right now, Sugar Ray may look a little rough around the edges as he continues to heal and soak up all the TLC he’s been missing. But underneath that weathered exterior is an incredibly gentle, loving cat who just wants affection and a soft place to land.
