Dale: A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust 🐾 Dale came to Good Mews from a rural county shelter alongside his brother, Chippy—because of course, if there’s a Chip, there has to be a Dale! While his brother is the social butterfly, Dale is the quiet, sensitive one who is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Dale is a very shy boy who will need time, patience, and understanding from his forever family. When he first arrived in foster care, he spent several weeks tucked safely in hiding. Over the past 45 days, he has made steady, meaningful progress—he now comes out when his foster family enters the room, stays nearby, and comfortably eats his meals in their presence. While he isn’t ready for pets just yet, he is clearly beginning to trust and observe from a safe distance. One thing that brings Dale immediate joy and confidence? Other cats. He absolutely lights up around feline friends and has been incredibly social with every cat he’s met—rubbing against them, following them, and seeking out their companionship right away. Because of this, Dale will need a confident, friendly cat in his forever home to help guide him and show him the ropes (his brother Chippy would be a wonderful match!). While he may be shy with people, Dale’s playful side shines through during playtime. He is a hardcore laser light enthusiast and loves chasing it with impressive speed and agility—this boy has some serious ups! He also enjoys wand toys and will happily engage when he feels safe and comfortable. Dale has been introduced to a large-breed dog and did well after a very slow, proper introduction. Dale is not a cat who will be an instant cuddle bug—but for the right person, he has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. Watching him continue to build confidence and learn to trust will be a beautiful journey for a patient and understanding adopter.
