All of our dogs are in foster homes and not in one single kennel location. Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once. Lolo is a senior, female German Shepherd who we guess is around nine years old. She came to us from the shelter extremely underweight at 38 lbs, so we’ve been concentrating on getting her healthy again. Fortunately, her obviously rough past has not diminished the light in this little girl. She loves to be near her people and has displayed exemplary behavior whenever she’s been taken on an ‘outing’. She hops into the car by herself and rides quietly. She wants to please her human, so she is learning very quickly. She uses a dog door to go outside and quickly learned the routines of her foster home. At feeding time, she joyfully prances to her crate and waits for her food. She does not show any food aggression despite her lack of regular meals in her past, but she is fed separately from the resident pack to prevent her overeating. This sweet girl is extremely gentle – she has spent time with her foster mom’s elderly parent, who was very impressed with her demeanor. Lolo also was a rockstar while getting a bath -she can be touched anywhere without a reaction, and she patiently allowed washing, blow drying, and brushing. She has lovely silver fur under her coat, and her cute little cauliflower ears just add to her charm. She is living in a foster home with 3 other German Shepherds and 3 cats, and she shows no interest in the cats at all. She can be left unsupervised with the rest of her foster pack when her human is at work, and sleeps on one of the many dog beds throughout the house – whichever spot strikes her fancy! This lovely girl needs a home of her own where she can receive all the love she deserves – she has so much still to offer. Is yours a perfect home for this sweet, senior girl?! (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state.
