Hazel's story starts like so many of the dogs we rescue at Big Bones does.... She was found abandoned in a backyard on Christmas day. We doubt Santa is the one that left her cold, alone and scared - without food or water. Luckily, some good Samaritans brought her to the local shelter to get warm and fed. But there she stayed, getting overlooked for 4 months.... As we all know shelters are overwhelmed and overcrowded, especially in rural Kansas. Lucky for Hazel, Big Bones noticed her and stepped in before her fate was sealed. Hazel is a sweet, loving and playful 1-2 yo bluenose pitbull mix - fully vetted and healthy. She is friendly, gentle with treats and food, knows some basic commands and appears to be housebroken. She is friendly but very playful with other dogs (she is young after all). We don't know yet how she would do with cats. We haven't yet tested her with kids, but we believe she will be as gentle and loving as she is with adult humans. She does pull a bit on the leash, so we are working on some leash manners right now. She is great in the car but hasn't quite figured out how to jump up into one.
