About Smokey
Meet Smokey, a true work in progress with a genuine heart. When Smokey first arrived at the shelter, he was withdrawn and shy, but since leaving, his playful and affectionate side has started to shine. He's goofy, loves chasing toys or playing tug, and always wants to be close to his people—those striking blue eyes seal the deal. Smokey is already house and crate trained, and he knows commands like sit, shake, kennel, leave it, and drop it. He's comfortable being brushed and enjoys being the center of attention. Still, he's not perfect: Smokey can get mouthy during play and gets excited enough at doors to try to rush out. Leash manners are a work in progress. He really bonds with "his person" and tends to be protective of his home and space, so he'd do best as the only pet—without having to compete for attention or resources. Sensitive to loud noises and needing structure, Smokey shines in a routine-focused home with adults or older teens. He offers loyalty, cuddles, and a desire to be the perfect companion for someone willing to provide leadership and boundaries. For those curious, Smokey's birthday makes him an Aquarius—so expect a streak of independence alongside all that devotion. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
