Whiskey was found in the woods while a family was hiking in Soddy Daisy and came right up to them asking for help. He was skin and bones and had obviously been loose for quite some time. His microchip led back to Walker County Animal Shelter, but the number for the owner who adopted him back in 2024 had been disconnected. Whiskey looks to be a purebred German Shepherd. He is 4.5 years old and weighs 61 pounds. We expect he will weigh ~80 pounds when he reaches a healthy weight. For now, we are feeding him with a slow feeder as he tends to devour his food quickly. He is very social and does well with kids. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but are doing meet & greets and adoptions by appointment only. The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter.
