About Penelope
Meet Penelope (aka Pete) 🐾 – the brilliantly quirky, deeply affectionate “mini raccoon” looking for her perfect home Penelope—affectionately called Pete—is one of those unforgettable cats who leaves a lasting imprint on your heart. She is incredibly smart, highly observant, and very people-oriented in her own unique way. If you’ve ever imagined what it would be like to live with a tiny raccoon-like personality in a cat body, Pete is exactly that: curious, intense, funny, and deeply attached to her favorite things and her favorite beings. Pete forms strong bonds—she doesn’t just like her people and companions, she chooses them. Once she trusts you, she becomes very connected and will seek out attention, affection, and interaction in her own special way. She is very vocal, but not in a typical “meow”—she has the cutest, most unusual little mumbling chatter that her foster will deeply miss. She is extremely intelligent and food-motivated, and she quickly learns routines, names, and patterns. She even responds to her name “Pete,” showing just how tuned in she is to her environment. 💛 What Pete Needs Most: A home with a confident, friendly, social cat companion (this is non-negotiable for her happiness) A cat-experienced adopter who understands feline body language and behavior A calm home environment (she is not a good fit for homes with small children) A person who understands that trust takes time—and is willing to let her set the pace Pete thrives with companionship and truly loves other cats. She has a strong attachment to feline friends and especially bonds with outgoing, social cats. She should not be an only cat. 🏡 Her Personality: Very intelligent and curious Strong-willed and opinionated (in the best way!) Affectionate on her terms—she loves pets, but does not enjoy being picked up Vocal and expressive Food motivated and routine oriented Forms deep attachments to “her people” and “her cat” ⚠️ Important Considerations: Pete is not the right match for a first-time cat owner or a home looking for a very easygoing, low-interaction cat. She can be a bit intense at times and will do best with someone who appreciates a cat with personality, boundaries, and strong preferences. She does give warning signals before using her claws, but she is still a cat with clear boundaries and should be respected as such. Because of this, she is not recommended for homes with small children. ❤️ In the right home, Pete will absolutely shine. She is not a “starter cat”—she is a cat lover’s cat. Someone who understands her will be rewarded with a deeply loyal, intelligent, and entertaining companion who will make them laugh every single day. If you’re looking for a quiet little shadow who follows you, talks to you in her own language, and bonds deeply with both humans and feline friends—Pete may be your perfect match.
