About Chonk
Chonk is an impressive orange tabby with a larger-than-life presence and a gentle way about him. Trapped with a feral colony, it became clear right away that Chonk wasn’t feral—he was abandoned and left to fend for himself until nearby neighbors pieced together his story. Grateful to be back with people, Chonk constantly shadows his foster mom, keeping up a conversation with cheerful chatter. He’s still a little nervous in new situations and needs a patient adopter who will let him warm up on his own timeline. Chonk is re-learning how to play, especially with anything that has a ball or that he can bat around, and he relishes a sturdy scratching post. He sometimes gives gentle love nips when he’s feeling frisky, so a home with older children suits him, but not one with younger kids. Chonk never misses his litter box, is neutered, and is current on vaccinations. He will be microchipped before adoption. As an FIV-positive cat, Chonk needs to remain indoors (or could make good use of a catio), and will need to be your only cat indoors unless any others are also FIV-positive—he got along with cats in his previous colony. FIV-positive cats like Chonk can enjoy many healthy, happy years. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
