About Ernie
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Say hello to Ernie! Ernie is a two-year-old male shepherd/mastiff mix weighing in around 85 pounds. With his large size and possibly intimidating looks, you might not guess he’s truly a gentle giant at heart. Ernie has a moderate energy level and enjoys being around people—he’s the perfect companion to bring with you to work or out for a relaxing walk. This sweet boy is incredibly friendly with both dogs and cats of all sizes and would do well with children aged 8 years or older. Although toddlers make him a bit uneasy, he simply avoids them rather than acting out. Ernie is crate trained for short periods and is working on perfecting his potty training. He doesn’t require a physical fence and can be an only dog or enjoy the company of other pups. Whether he’s playing with furry friends or snuggling up with you on the couch, Ernie is happiest surrounded by those he loves. Smart, gentle, leash-trained, and known to think he’s a lap dog, he promises endless affection and loyalty. Fun fact: Born on February 10th, Ernie is an Aquarius, making him especially social and unique! Start your journey together! Apply now.

Questions about Ernie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Shepherd/mastiff mixes excel in homes with ample indoor space and a secure yard, where they can be close to their family and have room to roam. They do best in environments where they aren’t left alone too often, as they crave companionship.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This mix benefits from a moderate to large outdoor space for regular exercise. While a large, fenced yard is ideal, daily walks and some playtime also help meet their needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Shepherd/mastiff mixes often do well with children, especially if socialized early. Their size means they’re best suited for families with older kids who understand how to interact respectfully with large dogs.
