Candy
AvailableCandy is a large, adult female German Shepherd Dog with a beautiful yellow and fawn coat. She’s about 2 years and 2 months old and is fully house trained. Candy has been spayed and her vaccinations are up to date. While she’s overcome a tough start, she’s made real progress in her Tulsa, OK foster home.
About Candy
Candy spent her early life on the streets, raising seven puppies on her own and keeping her guard up around people. At first, she wanted nothing to do with human affection and did her best to keep her distance, even escaping rescue care for a period because being close to people felt overwhelming. Over time, though, Candy’s foster never gave up on her, giving her the space and patience she needed to trust. With gentle encouragement, she decided to start choosing people. Now, Candy knows the rhythms of family life: she’s both crate trained and house trained, and she shares her space comfortably with other dogs. Her foster’s cats don’t bother her, and she even seeks gentle attention from the family’s 9-year-old son. She has a soft, sensitive temperament and thrives in a peaceful environment, showing real affection at her own pace. Candy is heartworm positive and in the midst of a slow-kill treatment. Her energy is moderate, fitting well in a quieter household that can offer patience and understanding as she continues to blossom. What Candy really needs is a home that accepts her uncertain past and wants to help her build a future where she feels safe and wanted. Every bit of love she offers is earned and meaningful.
