Meet Parker, a 7-year, 10-month-old poodle mix whose journey is nothing short of incredible. Parker showed up at a local business, lost and alone, with no owner in sight. Thankfully, a kind-hearted person brought him to us, giving Parker a chance at a new beginning. To our surprise, Parker had a microchip! After some digging, we learned an astonishing story: Parker is originally from Washington State. His owner told us that Parker disappeared five years ago. After searching and hoping for so long, they finally lost hope, believing he was gone forever. Sadly, due to life changes, they are unable to take him back now. Parker’s story is a powerful reminder: if you find a stray animal, please contact your local animal control and never transport the animal out of the area. Sometimes lost pets end up far from home—just like Parker, who ended up across the country, far from where anyone would think to look. We may never know where Parker has been or who cared for him over the past several years, but we know his story isn’t finished yet. Parker deserves a loving forever home for his next chapter. Because he’s an older small-breed dog, he arrived with severe dental disease, but our amazing veterinarian was able to clean his teeth and remove the bad ones, giving him a fresh, clean smile and a new lease on life. Now Parker is ready to start over—with you. He will be available for adoption tomorrow when our shelter opens at 12 pm.
