About Persephone
Persephone is a beautiful one-year old female kitty who was brought to the HSOV on March 9, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found her in the Belpre Ohio area. Persephone was in desperate need of medical attention since she had suffered an extremely severe wound on her neck/chin. Thankfully one of our compassionate local veterinarians was able to make time to examine Persephone later in the afternoon on March 9th, and she underwent surgery the following day to suture the wound. This little lovebug has a white-and-black longhaired coat, a fluffy long black tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with bright golden eyes, nice 'ear furnishings', a black velvet nose, and extra-long eyebrows/whiskers. Persephone was given rabies vaccine on March 9th while she was a patient at the veterinary hospital. She was also combo tested that day and is negative for feline leukemia, FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus), and heartworm. Persephone weighed 6 lbs that day. Persephone returned to our shelter wearing the infamous 'cone of shame', and she made the best of what had been a bad situation while she recuperated in her blanket-filled cage .. And our amazing HSOV Kennel Techs catered to her every need. This sweet young lady has an affectionate, outgoing personality and loves attention more than anything else in the world. Persephone was given vaccinations and Drontal dewormer on March 12, 2026. These photos were taken on April 4, 2026 when, much to her delight, Persephone was finally rid of the dreaded cone .. And she was relaxing and enjoying attention while we snapped her glamour photos. Persephone was spayed on April 6, 2026. She weighed 6.8 lbs that day. This little beauty will soon be looking to find her dream home. She still has sutures which are scheduled to be removed in the near future .. And then she will be ready to go home with her new family.
