While he didn't have a jersey that day, he found something better: a community that rallied behind him. His Journey to Recovery hasn't been a simple stroll around the bases. After being rescued from the shelter, we discovered he was dealing with a serious orthopedic issue. Surgery revealed a fractured kneecap, likely from a run-in with a car before he found his way to the field. He is currently in the "early innings" of his recovery. While his gait might always be a little "wonky," his spirit is completely unbroken! He's a tough kid who has handled weeks of crate rest like a pro, though he's officially ready to trade the bench for some playtime. The Scouting Report • Personality: High energy, loves to play, and has never met a stranger he doesn't love. • Social Skills: A total fan favorite with adults and kids alike! He is also great with other dogs. • Training: He's a work in progress! Eight weeks of medical rest means he's missed some "spring training" on his manners, but he is already crate trained and walks decently on a leash. He'll just need a patient family to help him learn the ropes. • Lifestyle: Despite his past injuries, Dugout dreams of an active lifestyle. He wants to be part of the action.
