About Flower Petal

Flower Petal's story is one of resilience, second chances, and a tiny girl who loves to be held close. She arrived at Inland Valley Humane Society as a stray, already microchipped and linked to a registered owner. Sadly, despite repeated attempts by staff to contact her family, no one ever came for her. Flower Petal became a Frosted Face on April 8th, ready for a fresh start and a forever family who will never give up on her. Estimated to be 7 years old and weighing just under 7 pounds, Flower Petal is gentle soul with so much love to give. She has been diagnosed with megaesophagus, a condition that affects how food travels from the mouth to the stomach. Because of this, she needs a little extra support during mealtimes, including eating upright and remaining upright afterward to help prevent regurgitation. To help her thrive, Flower Petal now has her very own Bailey Chair - a custom high chair designed to keep her safely vertical while she eats. She's adapting well to her new routine and handles her chair like a champ! With a little bit of extra support at mealtime, Flower Petal can get the nutrients she needs to live a healthy, comfortable life. Flower Petal recently returned from a two-week Frosted Fling, where she received lots of loving care while we learned more about how she does in a home environment - including how easily a Bailey Chair could be incorporated into her foster family's daily routine. Her foster mom shares: "Flower Petal is absolutely precious and made of love. She is a wonderful companion. She loves being held, outside time, and wandering the yard. She especially enjoyed meeting new people and seeking out pets. She didn't mind our cats unless they got too close, then she'd stand her ground. She has no problem with other small dogs although was a bit timid around bigger dogs. Flower Petal is still getting used to her Bailey Chair, but doing better with each feeding! Sometimes she doesn't want to remain in the chair for the full 20 minutes after eating, but she is happy to be held upright or ride in a vertical front pack carrier. We saw Flower Petal's energy grow and really got to see her personality as she ate more and felt more comfortable with us. Flower Petal is just the sweetest. She would be happiest if someone would either hold her all day, or she could be next to you (on a dog bed in the couch). She rode nicely in the car, didn't have any accidents, and enjoyed her time in her little sling." To meet Flower Petal, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
