Meet Nikolai! At just 3 years old and 50 lb, Nikolai is a calm, gentle boy who’s still learning that the world is a safe place. WOW … prior to being rescued by Bubbles Dog Rescue, humans did not treat Nikolai with the kindness he deserves. Nikolai was found by animal control with a rope tied around his mouth. We can’t know all that Nikolai endured in his short life but what’s notable is that through it all, he’s never once shown even an ounce of aggression towards any human or dog! Awww! Nikolai recently completed 8 weeks of board and train to boost his confidence and to help him feel more comfortable exploring the outdoors. On walks, he can be skittish, especially with sudden noises—and often looks over his shoulder for reassurance. With patience and routine, he’s already gaining confidence- he tries so hard to do everything right. We learned through training that Nikolai excels in predictable environments. He is routine driven and would do well with a confident and encouraging handler. The ideal home for Nikolai would be one where humans are around a fair amount of time and also where there are other canine pals to be his friends!!! He has the cutest quirks: he likes to carry his food to a cozy corner before eating, digs into blankets to make the perfect nest, and loves to cuddle like a lap dog. He offers gentle kisses and soaks up affection like he’s making up for lost time. Nikolai is potty trained, knows “sit” and “lie down,” listens well, and has an adorable case of the morning zoomies. He’s smart, eager to bond, and blossoming more every day. Everyone who meets him falls in LOVE and he gives that love right back.
