About Dorian+ Jacob Blackington

Dory and Jacob are not your typical “pick-me-up-and-cuddle” cats – they are shy and have had a rough life – they’re true rescue cats! They both started their lives outdoors but were rescued from opposite sides of Colorado and brought into the warm comfort of couches and bedspreads. Never having met humans before, they were fraidy-cats – hiding, only coming out for food, learning very slowly that humans are safe. They were adopted to separate homes but neither could live without the other. When they both returned to their foster around the same time, they practically melted into each other’s paws. Instant purring, licks, and cuddles. These two are now inseparable. They chase toys together and can be heard purring on the couch or bed for hours together. These two are looking for a calm, cat-savvy home that understands that trust is something you earn, not something they give away on day one. Trust and food first – love comes afterward. The videos of them show how wonderful and affectionate they are – but don’t be fooled! They will take many Churus and slow, patient adopters who truly want to rescue them before they’re this sweet! They probably shouldn’t go to homes with young kids, as children want to bond with their new friends a little too quickly for the liking of these guys.Dory is an 8-month-old with the cutest crossed eyes you’ve ever seen and a personality that’s equal parts sassy and sweet. She started life as the most shy girl of her litter, and while she’s come an incredibly long way—she can be petted, and will happily purr away in bed—she still needs interactions to be on her terms. If she gets overstimulated, she will swat (claws included), especially if someone pushes past her boundaries. But here’s the thing: when you respect her space, she chooses you. And when she does, she’s affectionate, snuggly, and deeply loyal. It’s just going to take time. Bonus: she is extremely food-motivated and will absolutely bond over treats (Churu is her love language).Jacob, her slightly younger partner-in-crime, is a sleek black cat with striking gold eyes and a gentle soul. He tends to “reset” in new environments and may be freaked out and withdrawn for the first few weeks to a month—but give him time, and he transforms into a sweet, purring boy who enjoys pets and companionship. He takes his cues from Dory and gains his confidence alongside her. These two are a bonded pair and rely on each other for comfort and security. They are not suited for homes with young children or anyone expecting instant affection. But for the right person—someone patient, observant, and respectful of feline boundaries—they will become incredibly rewarding companions. This isn’t a story about easy kittens. It’s a story about earning trust, building a relationship, and ending up with two cats who choose you back. It’s the heart of rescue. foster: erst Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home.
