About Keats

Meet Keats! Age: 11 months Sex: Female Breed/Color: Buff/White DSH About Keats If you’re looking for a cat that is 90% sleeping in a hidey hole and 10% overly adorable cuddles, Keats if your gal. Keats was rescued from a high kill shelter when she was only a few months old. She’s a very shy baby who used the other cats in her foster home as her emotional support team, and stayed scared of humans for a while. Due to her early scaredy cat tendencies, her foster was going to send her to be a well loved outdoor kitty at another foster’s home (hence the ear tip), but during the process of acclimating her for outdoor life, she opened up in her new foster’s home and has proven herself to be an absolute doll deserving of an indoor forever home and family. Personality Like clockwork, Keats hides for 2 days and then on day 3 comes out for 3 days worth of cuddles all at once- when in cuddle mode, she loves head scratches, butt scratches, belly rubs, being held like a baby, head kisses, gently pulling your hand in for extra pets, all while purring like crazy and making enough biscuits to drive your local bakery out of business. When not in cuddle mode, she’s happily content to sleep, explore new hiding spots, engage with the other resident cats or dogs, and she LOVES Churu. In fact, once she’s comfortable with you, will be coaxed into cuddle mode pretty quickly with a Churu break. Keats loves other cats and is totally unphased and friendly to pups- she’s even patient with her big, goofy foster brother Rottweiler who whines until he can lick all over her. Perfect Home If you work away from home all day or travel a lot so you’re looking to get your cat a cat, Keats is your perfect fit. Keats would thrive in a home with very social cats. To be honest, Keats would be happy in a home with any type of cat, but we think her new family will be setting her up for success if any resident kitties are not just with friendly other cats but also very social and cuddly with humans too. Even though Keats has come out of her shell tremendously, having good cat siblings to model positive social interactions with her human family members will be good for her. Keats is great with cat friendly dogs and would do well in a home with one as long as she’s given some hidey spots and breaks if they are “all up in her business.” She’s as patient and gentle as can be, but due to her tendencies toward being still just a little bit unsure of new humans, we think she would do best in a home with adults or calm, cat experienced older kids. Whoever adopts her- do not be disheartened if she gives you the cold shoulder for a full month. It took 4 weeks before her current foster could pet her, but it was 24 hours between first pet and being literally carried around like a baby. She’s slow to trust but once she does, she loves with her full heart.
