About Poppy

Meet Poppy! Poppy is a tuxedo boy with a big personality and a deep love for his people. He recently returned to our care after struggling to acclimate to a lively household and he's ready for a fresh start. At his best, Poppy is affectionate, devoted, and happily underfoot. He bonds closely with his people and will let you know when he's in the mood for attention. Once he feels safe with someone, he's a lap cat through and through: purring, rolling around for head scratches, and doing his best to be the center of your universe at all times. He's also curious and active, with a love of exploring, climbing, and surveying his kitty kingdom from the purrfect vantage point. What trips him up is fear and overstimulation. Poppy can be startled by sudden noises or unfamiliar people, and he needs time and patience to warm up in new situations. He does best in a calm, predictable environment without a lot of foot traffic or unexpected commotion. Poppy has shown a clear preference for female-presenting people and is likely best suited to a household with them. Space to roam and decompress makes a real difference for him, and a setup with controlled indoor/outdoor access or a heated garage or barn connected to the house would be ideal. Poppy is looking for a quiet, adult-only home where he can be the only pet. A cat-savvy adopter who moves at his pace, reads his body language, and gives him room to engage on his own terms will get the very best of him. For his health and happiness, Poppy eats a prescription urinary diet. Calm, consistency, and a little extra square footage are really all he's asking for and in return, he's got a lot of love to give! Affectionate and deeply bonded once he feels safe! Active and curious, loves enrichment and exploration!
