About Mami
Mami the cat is a petite brown tabby who has truly mastered the art of the cozy cat loaf. She’s perfectly content to sit back, tuck her paws in, and quietly watch the world go by, taking everything in with thoughtful eyes. At first, she may seem a bit reserved or shy, but we like to think she’s simply discerning about who earns her trust. Mami was transferred to the shelter from our rescue partner, Happy Tails Animal Rescue. When Mami first arrived, she was a little nervous and preferred to stay in her carrier, though she was comfortable with gentle hands reaching in to say hello. Given a bit of time and space, she calmly walked out on her own and went straight to the food dish: priorities! Once she’s had a chance to settle in and get used to you, she handles beautifully and relaxes into her environment. Mami would thrive with a patient adopter who appreciates a quieter, low-key companion and is happy to let this sweet, chill girl blossom at her own pace. If you'd like to meet our available pets, please check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Michael R. Frey Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt
