About Velma
Velma is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix in Souderton, PA looking for a new home through no fault of her own. She came to her current family as an adult and now, nearly six years old, finds the chaos of a house with three kids under four overwhelming. Velma’s eyes are unique—the tops are white and the bottoms are brown—which adds to her distinct look. She’s a needy, affectionate companion who greets you the second you walk in and thinks any lap is hers if allowed. After the initial excitement, she’ll usually settle nearby, always happy to be close. She’s crate trained for both day and night, although lately she sleeps in her own bed on the floor. She doesn’t chew but may have pee accidents if left loose when alone; she has no issues when crated. Velma is great with both dogs and cats and can even adjust her play with cats when told to stop. She’s quiet indoors but will let you know if someone is outside. Her nervous, skittish nature means she needs a calm home, ideally one with adults or older kids, as she’s lost patience with toddlers. You’ll find her happiest outdoors—she’ll even sit in the pouring rain if given the chance. She thrives in a low-commotion environment with people who understand her neediness and quirks.
