About Coffee
Coffee is a small Chihuahua mix, spayed female, who just turned 3 in February 2026. She’s 12.5 pounds and takes behavioral medication (Clomipramine) twice a day to help with some compulsive digging and guarding issues. When it comes to housebreaking, Coffee has had zero accidents in her foster home. She is somewhat crate trained: she tolerates kenneling at work when people are around, but prefers not to be crated at home. Car rides are no trouble—she’s a calm passenger. Coffee truly loves her walks but will pull and can get aggressive if she spots other dogs or cats. She doesn't take kindly to strangers, whether they're people or animals. Her energy is high. When she gets excited, she jumps and may nip hands, but when it’s time to settle, Coffee is happiest curled up in a warm lap. She doesn’t require a fenced yard, but a space where she can safely dig and run would suit her. Adopters should be prepared to continue crate training or limit her space when away, especially if there isn’t a secure yard. Coffee can get along with dogs after slow, careful introductions—she loves the two dogs in her foster home but isn’t a fan of unfamiliar ones. She’d do best as an only dog or with a small dog companion. Cats are a no-go; she’s been reactive to strays and will try to chase them. While Coffee hasn't been tested extensively with children, her foster strongly recommends an adult, quiet home, ideally with kids 13 or older who can understand her boundaries. She starts off wary, even cage-aggressive, but once she earns your trust, she becomes intensely loyal and affectionate. Coffee’s adopter needs to be committed to going slow with introductions and giving her space to gain confidence. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
