We expect him to be a medium-sized dog which is the ideal size for a partner in adventure. Tux is happiest when he is active and engaged with his people. What truly sets Tux apart is his incredible foundation of training. It is rare to find a puppy who is so well trained as such a young age. He is fully house-trained and sleeps through the night in his crate. He has already completed professional training and mastered a long list of commands, including sit, stay, heel, come, down, and go to your place. He is good on a leash and handles meetings with new people and dogs well. If you live in the Westlake Village area, an additional training package will be included as part of his adoption. While Tux is very loving and playful, he is also a smart and confident puppy who needs a structured environment to truly thrive. He has shown some resource guarding tendencies around high-value items like food or toys that his adult humans are able to guide him through (the young kids in his house are not as consistent). Because of this, Tux is looking for an adult-only home with confident leaders who understand puppy (and dog) boundaries. He needs a family that will continue his training, maintain a clear routine, and ensure the environment stays managed so he doesn't feel the need to "protect" items. Tux is a non-shedding, medium-energy pup who currently lives with another mellow dog. He would also do well as an only dog where he can receive all the focus and guidance he deserves. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and is microchipped. As part of his adoption, he will be neutered at six months old.
