About Smokey

Smokey has known the Tunica Humane Society longer than any real home; years in the cat room have been most of his memory. He was adopted once before but struggled to adapt, eventually losing interest in food and water until he was returned. Smokey is exceptionally shy—almost feral—and needs a very patient, experienced cat person to help him slowly adjust to life outside of the shelter, if he ever truly warms up. A quiet home with minimal commotion will suit Smokey best. He may never fully accept pets or become a lap cat, but there’s a slim, hopeful chance he’ll open up with the right person and plenty of space. There’s no promise of a social transformation, but his gentle, reserved way has drawn in those who appreciate a project cat with lots of dignity. He does get along with cats, so a calm feline sibling could help, but that soft blue-gray fur and wary eyes need the right human to take a real leap of faith. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
