If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Clifford is the pup you want to have around! Clifford, at between 5 and 6 years old and a tiny 15 lbs (perfect smaller size to tuck under your arm) is just naturally a lover and when he looks at you with that sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Clifford is a beautiful and sweet as can be Shih Tzu / West Highland White Terrier mix with all the traits that make these very intelligent and personality-plus dogs among the most popular and beloved breed mixes available today. This breed identification is according to the wisdom of New Mexico vets -- Farfel's is unable to swear to it as no DNA test was done. Farfel's received a plea from a New Mexico shelter to save the life of Clifford who was facing the possibility of euthanasia due to a lack of space. They described this guy as wonderful and so sweet in his temperament and loving personality. Farfel's was thrilled to accept the gorgeous Clifford into our rescue. The photo we've received of Clifford in no way shows his cuteness and adorable helicopter tail when he meets a friend! It also doesn't show the wonderful spirit of of this precious little guy. We've requested that he be groomed and new photos be taken. We're very hopeful that this will occur and we'll post new photos immediately upon receipt. Shelter personnel and Clifford's rescuer had the following to brag about our sweet Clifford: This little guy has clearly been through a whole lot in his short life. He came to us so matted and filthy..as if no one ever loved or cared for him. But not for this sweet soul to be sad. His little tail wagged hesitantly, and then like a helicopter when he knew he was safe and realized that the entire staff was quickly falling in love with him! Cliff will be a bit shy when he first arrives in Colorado and when he meets his new family. But with a bit of time and patience, this little guy emerges with his goofy personality and irresistible ways. In Clifford's time with his foster, we've found that he as limited vision and hearing. But no way this little guy is going to be sad. He's a happy little pup who loves his toys (watch out, he's chewing them to destruction), people who are kind to him (with all his heart), cats and other dogs (he's met both cats and dogs at the shelter and seems to love them). Cliff is completely potty trained, loves attention and is very happy and playful (he may play bite but no aggression and all play). Clifford walks well on leash but can get frightened so needs to be assured that his person is close. Clifford is a 5 - 6 year-old sweetheart who absolutely adores playtime—especially when it involves his favorite squeaky toys—and his joy is contagious to everyone around him. Clifford may have limited vision and hearing, but don’t let that fool you—he embraces life with a beautiful spirit and doesn’t let anything hold him back. He navigates the world in his own special way and finds happiness in the simple, meaningful moments. He does get frightened at loud noises so it's highly recommended that he has a harness and leash on him when going outside. And when it’s time to wind down, there’s nothing Clifford loves more than curling up in your lap for cuddles. He truly thrives on closeness and connection. Because of his challenges, Clifford is seeking a dedicated, loving person who can be with him most of the time—someone patient, kind, and committed to giving him the consistent care and companionship he deserves. Farfel's Rescue would love to see this wonderful boy in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and open heart for a very loving and sweet little guy. We'd hate to see this social pup left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. An individual who works from an at-home office or is retired would be a far better choice for Clifford who would be thrilled with periodic loving up and hugs over the course of the day. We've been told that Clifford is either a non-shedding or lightly-shedding dog (but we can't swear to it). He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing (approximately every 2 - 3 months) and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care and general health) to keep Clifford's hair cottony-soft, very healthy and matte-free. Clifford has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered in support of Farfel's work to end canine euthanasia due to overpopulation. Clifford is arriving on transport in Denver (or Boulder) on Saturday 4/8/2026..
