About Kester
Dog Name: Kester(tan) and Brody(long-haired) Breed: Chihuahua mix Sex: Male Age: K-12 years and B-7 years Weight: K- 3.9 lbs and B- 7.5 lbs. Medical Needs: None at this time. Housebroken: Both boys are potty trained while on a schedule. They would rather poop and pee outside. Throughout the night they will pee on the pee pad once or twice. Crate Trained: both are crate trained but have been left free roam in a room with a baby gate blocking the doorway. Good in the car: Kester does well in the purse with a blanket on the seat. Brody is fine if he is laying on your lap. They just sleep through out the ride and look out the window every now and then. Very easy to have them in the car! Good on a Leash: Brody will walk along side you. He does move slow and likes to sniff. He will go with you only if bonded to you. Otherwise, he will stubbornly stand there. Kester is unsure if he is safe out in the big world. He will walk on a leash but would rather be in your sweatshirt with you. Ha! Energy Level: Both boys are very laid back. These old men like to snooze, eat, step outside (if it's not cold), check on their human and nap some more. Needs a fenced in yard: Yes. They do enjoy being outside to sun bathe. Brody likes to walk around like he has a retired purpose. Dog Friendly: Kester and Brody are dog friendly. They are scared that bigger dogs (or anything bigger) will hurt them. But they certainly like to share body heat and snuggles when napping. Kester has certainly set the role for Brody to protect him. This does need to continue to be corrected. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Cat Friendly: Unknown Kid Friendly: Yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 6 and older. Kids need to understand and respect that these Chi's are very tiny. Kester has no teeth and Brody has about 3. They do not have any way to defend themselves between no teeth, very tiny, and just being gentlemen. Special traits that make your foster special or what we need to know about them? Kester is a no teeth having bundle of sweetness. He is silly and happy with life. He still needs to put on some more weight but this should not be a problem since he is food motivated. Chihuahua shakes are real but dont worry as his teeth will never chatter. (Ha!). Blankets, beds, pillows, anything soft is perfect for this old man! He will always be happy and excited to see you! A little dash across the sectional to show of his butt tuckin zoomie is enough to let you know you're loved. Brody is more of the independent old man. He always has his eyes on the room and wants to make sure everyone has peace. But he isnt the best watchman because he falls asleep on the job often. As much as he tries to watch over the room, he just wants a slow moving and quiet atmosphere. Brody will be the first to get up and greet you with his loving eyes just staring up at you. His feathered tail hairs shake all around because his person is here. Together and individually, Kester and Brody, defy all stereotypes for Chihuahuas. These sweet, patient, toothless old men are nothing but the best and simply deserve a quiet home to live.
