Old Man McGucket - The Goofy, Gentle Explorer Meet Old Man McGucket, a 9-year-old Plott Hound mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. At 64 lbs and tall, he's a doofy, gentle sweetheart who loves people, other dogs, and exploring the world around him. McGucket is a happy, goofy boy who warms up quickly to everyone he meets. He enjoys walks, yard adventures, playing with dog friends, and "talking" to wildlife and neighbors with his signature excited howl. He's mostly calm at home with occasional bursts of playful energy. He's house trained (with regular potty breaks), crate trained, rides well in the car, and has decent leash manners. Like many tall hounds, he may reach for tasty things left on counters. He loves other dogs--sometimes a bit too enthusiastically-- he's still learning to take cues if a dog wants their space. He hasn't lived with cats but hasn't shown aggression toward any of the neighborhood cats he's met. He would do fine with children, although he may knock over small ones with his goofy enthusiasm. A home with a backyard and no shared walls would fit him best, both for easy potty breaks and because his howls can be loud when he's excited. But as long as he gets enough walks and exercise outside, he dosen't necessariiy need a yard. he He'd be happy as an only dog or with canine companions. Old Man McGucket's sweet, silly charm makes him impossible not to love. If you're looking for a joyful, lovable hound to brighten your days, he's your guy.
