Meet Cherry, the sweetest little 7-month-old brown mixed breed pup you’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing. Cherry was a total volunteer favorite at Dallas Animal Services, and it’s easy to see why. She spent her time going on “daycations” around town, charming everyone she met with her gentle, loving personality. She was co-housed with multiple dogs without a single issue and consistently wowed staff and volunteers alike. Despite all of this, Cherry was overlooked for over a month due to one simple, fixable issue: double cherry eyes. We couldn’t stand to see such a perfect pup be passed by, so we brought her into our rescue. Since then, Cherry has had surgery to repair her eyes, and now her bright, beautiful gaze perfectly matches her glowing spirit. Cherry is truly a dream dog. She is incredibly sweet and loves nothing more than cuddling up with her people. She walks nicely on a leash, knows “sit,” and is wonderfully gentle with children. She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and has a calm, easygoing energy, especially impressive for a puppy. She’s just as happy lounging in a comfy bed with a plush toy as she is playing. And speaking of play, Cherry has the cutest habit of entertaining herself. She’ll toss a tennis ball, chase it down, and toss it again all on her own. It’s endlessly entertaining and such a testament to her happy, independent nature. She’s also very gentle with her toys and doesn’t tear things up. Cherry is doing wonderfully with crate training and is well on her way with potty training—she seems to be mostly house trained already. She also has a soft spot for sunbathing and soaking up the simple joys of life. She is fully vetted: spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Cherry is ready to leave her shelter days behind and step into a life full of love, comfort, and belonging.
