When he's out and about, Felix is a pleasure to walk on a leash. He enjoys a good sniff around the neighborhood and is very food-motivated, which makes him a great student for someone looking to build a bond through positive reinforcement. He is calm and observant when passing other dogs and generally prefers to keep his adventures peaceful and low-key. Because Felix can be a bit sensitive to new or overwhelming situations, he is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will give him the time and space he needs to decompress. Ate an offered treat. Was easy to leash but showed slight hesitancy to come out of kennel for approximately three seconds before walking on his own.Leash Skills:Easy to leash. Once outside, walked on loose leash with frequent sniffing behavior. Demonstrated hypervigilant behavior when walking through thresholds, eyes darting, pausing and then rushing through.Sociability:Unfazed when petted on back while sniffing. Tail positioned down with ears back or to the side. Regularly accepted treats and offered sit behavior for treats with soft eyes.Play:No toy engagement was attempted during assessment.Dog Interaction:When observing another dog at a distance, stopped and looked for about 10 seconds with neutral body language and closed mouth, then walked in opposite direction on own.Return to Kennel:Exhibited balking and pulling back behavior when approaching thresholds on return. Ignored offered treats during this phase. Darted forward upon seeing open kennel and entered readily. During unleashing, demonstrated avoidance behaviors including gaze aversion and leaning body away while sitting.Color Level:Blue Recommendations and considerations:- Go slow with all interactions- Use high-value food rewards- Provide adequate time for decompression 04/02/2026: 4/2 Prefers the ladies! ACA was walking Felix down the hallway, and he immediately looked at me, stopped walking, and started wagging his tail, ignoring the ACA on the other end of the leash. I came up closer, and Felix sat at my feet, wagging his tail and let me pet him. Then Felix saw two more female employees coming down the hallway and started excitedly toe-tapping. When they approached, Felix promptly sat at their feet and wiggled up closer to them. 04/02/2026: Felix Planet came into Intake low and tense with low small rapid tail wags. Felix immediately came up to me climbing up into my lap. Allowed for a full physical with food motivation. Attempted to vaccinate with cream cheese on door but Felix kept backing away.
