About Mj
If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at www.rescuecrew.org Hi! My name is MJ, but my foster parents call me Loki. I'm a 3-year-old, neutered male Shih Tzu mix. I weigh about 14 pounds, and I am a very solid little guy. I was turned into a local dog shelter looking pretty rough; my coat was full of mats and I was really dirty, but everything else about me is good! My former family cared enough about me to drop me off at the shelter and for that I am grateful. From the shelter, I was taken in by the Rescue Crew and my foster parents. I was taken to a groomer, and I got a bath and this super short haircut you see me sporting in the photos. The one with the longer fur is from my intake to the shelter. I think my best look will be somewhere between these two! By the way, one unique feature I have is one brown eye and one blue eye and I see just perfect! My foster parents say I am the smartest dog they have ever had. I know how to sit, fetch – I love fetching balls all day long, I come when I'm called,I without fail go into my kennel, when you say, “kennel,” even when I am tempted with something I'd really like to investigate. I sleep in my kennel all night with my blanket, bone and stuffed animal in my foster parents' bedroom. I'd rather not sleep alone in another room, but during the day, I do stay in my kennel, with the TV on, if they go somewhere. They have left me out for short periods of time, and when they return they just find me resting in my dog bed. I don't cry or act out ever. I eat my food very well and I love treats! I'm 100% potty trained; never had an accident. Oh, did I mention I love to fetch and playball? I like to go for walks, but I am still learning how to walk on a leash, I don't think I ever have done this before. My best feature, beyond being smart, is my personality. I am fun, loving, joyful, good natured and love to be with my people. I also have the right mix of independence, so chewing a bone, playing with toys or resting in my bed are ok with me too, I don't need all your attention. I do bark at things in the yard and when I hear things in the house, so shared walls are not for me. I am not a yappy dog, but I bark. I would LOVE a fenced yard because I need a good deal of activity. I am a small dog, with short legs, so jogging or running are not for me, but walking is great. I am not a lap dog. At night, I do love to sit on a lap and snuggle. I don't need or like a lot of petting, just snuggling. I will require regular grooming, so I don't get myself into this circumstance again where all my fur needs to be cut off. My foster parents think about 4 times per year. I am untested with kids, but I think I'd like them. I am not sure cats are up my alley! If you think I might be the right dog for you/your family, please fill out an application with as much detail as you can share, so my foster parents can get to know you. If it feels like we might be a good match, a call will be scheduled with you to talk further. Thank you for your interest in a rescue dog. We're all great good dogs that just need a second chance. Here's to a great future together, Loki. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional's recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal's history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.
