While we love all the dogs who pass through our shelter, every now and then there’s one who grabs the whole staff by the heart. Blue is one of those dogs. When Blue first arrived, he didn’t know how to interact with other dogs in the play yard. He was completely shut down — a sweet soul who had spent most of his life wandering the roads, living like a nomad. Blue simply didn’t know how to “dog.” So, we took him under our wing, the way a momma bird would. And slowly, Blue began to bloom. Today, he sleeps in the Captain’s office at night like the world’s most polite houseguest. He doesn’t chew things, he’s fully housebroken, and he has learned that people, comfort, and routine are actually pretty wonderful. Blue needs a forever home where he can live inside, because he has earned that level of love and stability. He adores other dogs, completely ignores cats, and melts for human affection. A fenced‑in yard is a must for his safety and happiness. We truly hope someone will take a chance on this incredible dog.
