About Tucker
Note from mom: Tucker is a 4-year-old Golden Doodle/Australian Shepherd mix. He is approximately 34lbs, neutered, chipped, up to date on all vaccines (March 2026 he got his 3 year vaccines as well as his yearly ones). He is very well cared for and loved. Tucker completed basic puppy training when he was 2 years old through Petco. He knows several basic commands (sit, stay, come,no,yes, wait, heel, down, off and “shake” where he’ll shake hands for a treat). He is potty trained & very rarely has accidents as he knows how to ask to go potty (will bark and heel at your feet). He loves to cuddle and is very gentle with children. He is friendly with cats, never aggressive as he lives with two cats and has since he was 8 weeks old; however, he does like to chase them to play. Our cats love to play with him but could come off as intimidating to a cat unfamiliar with dogs. Tucker is social with other dogs at Daycare (he’s been going to Suite Dog Daze) for about 2 years now weekly; however, he struggles on leash and is very protective of his humans when out for walks with other dogs. He pulls and barks at other dogs while on leash and will need someone who can work with him regularly. He is a “working” dog so he tends to try and “herd” our children (never bitten or hurt them in any aggressive manner whatsoever). Just something to keep in mind if they have children. Tucker has major separation anxiety and cannot be left home alone. He is not destructive unless he is left home alone. If he is left home alone, he the then panics and becomes afraid - leading to destructive behavior. We do have medication for him to help with anxiety/training (prescribed by his vet; however, it isn’t a medication he needs daily, more of as needed for anxiety (road trips, micro absence, etc).. We have attempted to create train him and while he can stay in the crate when we are here, because we are rarely gone, he is not learning to stay home alone - which we need him to do. He needs someone who is home all the time, works from home, has time to crate train or is retired so they can work with him consistently to train him to stay home by himself. He needs an experienced dog owner who has a yard where he can run and play as he does so much better after running outside, when it comes to his energy. He loves to play fetch and tug-o-war.
