Sweet Merle found himself in the shelter with his 39 siblings on February 2nd after his owner was sadly hosplitized and unable to care for him any longer. Merle is starting to warm up amazingly. At first he wasn't to keen on handling but after a few more weeks of Merle getting used to us and the shelter, he now allows pets all over! Merle enjoys head and neck rubs the most. Constant butt pets are still a little too overstimulating, but his tail will always tell you first! When Merle is done with wanting pets he will move away from you or give you a bat with his claws away. He loves to play with his mouse toys and to twist his blankets up. Merle went out for a photoshoot and allowed me to cary him over to the camera and get a few pictures in. After a couple pictures and me hiding for one he was done and jumped away. He used a staffs arm as a launchpad resulting in her having a few claw marks but he immidetly tried to run into his kennel. With the right approach, plenty of love, and a calm environment, Merle has the potential to become a devoted companion who enjoys quiet snuggles, gentle pets, and watching the world from a sunny spot in the home.
