Hobbes has faced a lot of change in his life. After being his family’s beloved only cat for years, his world shifted once a new baby arrived and he was eventually surrendered. He’s landed on his feet at Texas CARES, but getting here wasn’t easy. Hobbes struggled with using the litter box, and his foster mom and vets worked tirelessly through food changes, extra boxes, and rounds of vet visits to help him. Patience paid off when the right combination of special diet and a calming medication finally did the trick. Now, he reliably uses his litter box. He thrives on his prescription food for urinary health and takes his fluoxetine medication easily—honestly, he enjoys them disguised as treats. Hobbes is comfortable around dogs, but having met other cats, he’s made it clear he’d rather soak up all the attention from a human of his own. He’s not a fan of carriers, but will meet potential adopters through his foster family by arrangement since he won’t be at the adoption center. If you want a loyal companion who’s come out stronger and sweeter from tough times, Hobbes is more than ready to be your best friend. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
