About Kasumi
*Special note: This cat comes from a hoarding situation and will likely need time to adjust to a new home. While they have lived with many other cats, they may not have experienced much socialization with people. Activities like petting and being in large open spaces can be overwhelming for them. Adopters should be prepared to be patient during this transition.Sequestering the cat in a small room for 2-4 weeks can be very helpful, providing them with a safe space to call their own. It's important to let them build a relationship with their new family at their own pace, and to limit commotion and visitors initially. Since they may not have experienced life outside of the hoarding situation, things could be overwhelming at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial.Avoid aversive training methods. Instead, use treats, play, and enrichment to build trust and teach new things. Every cat is unique, and the time it takes for them to warm up to people and places will vary. My Friends at Wayside say: -I’m shy at first but full of love! -I did well with other cats in my previous home -I enjoy mentally stimulating activities -I enjoy being independent My home preferences (Restrictions): -I would like a quiet home environment -I will need extra time to warm up in a home -I would prefer a cat savvy adopter Hiya, I’m Kasumi! I’m a 3-year-old tabby girl with a gentle heart and so much love to give. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but that’s just because the world has been a bit overwhelming for me in the past. I came from a hoarding situation, so I’m still learning that everything is okay now. With patience and kindness, I promise my sweet personality will start to shine. I’m an independent gal who enjoys having my own space, and I really appreciate a calm environment where I can settle in at my own pace. I also love mentally stimulating activities and things that keep my curious mind busy! The good news? I’ve lived with other cats before and did great with them, so I may enjoy having a feline friend around. I’m just looking for a cat-savvy adopter who understands that love takes time and is willing to let me come out of my shell when I’m ready. If you give me that chance, I’ll show you just how special I am. Love, Kasumi
