About Miko
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State. We are a local foster home based rescue. Miko is a positively wonderful boy who has a habit of making people fall in love with him. He loves to go for walks and car rides but his favorite thing is getting cozy on the couch nestled in with his people. This guy loves the family vibe. Miko would be content in a home with children older than 8 years of age as long as they understand the importance of respect towards animals. Miko is a friend to everyone and enjoys the company of his canine companions. We don't know if he has experience with cats but his gentle nature tells us that he would be fine with a dog savvy cat who has a safe place to observe while Miko adapts to his new surroundings. Miko has wonderful house manners. He is quiet and waits patiently for his walks. When the weather is nice he loves the safety of his backyard where he can nap endlessly in the warmth of the sun. Miko will need a home without stairs. He can manage a few steps into the house but a staircase to a second level is not going to work for him. Miko recently received a Senior Wellness Exam with bloodwork. He came into rescue overweight. Miko has been diagnosed with spondylosis and some IVDD. He has been prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs and joint supplements and they are helping with his mobility. Miko would benefit from an adopter who is willing to add acupuncture, laser treatments, hydrotherapy and/or other forms of integrative medicine to his health plan. Of course, a healthy diet and gentle walks will help him lose some weight and that will be very helpful with maintaining healthy joints. Miko is 10 years old and weighs 100 pounds. Please note, we have approximately a 200 mile adoption radius from Stanwood WA for our Senior Dogs. Save-A-Mutt may limit this distance based on the long term needs of this pet. We don’t adopt out of state except to the Vancouver BC area. We don’t ship dogs. Once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up their dog.
