About Lilah
If you're looking for a border collie, Lilah is the textbook definition. This girl is wicked smart, loyal, eager-to-please, and has a strong herding drive. This 4 year old girl is motivated by praise and affection. If you tell her to jump, she's the kind of dog to ask "how high?" She always wants to be by your side, whether you're doing farm chores, playing fetch, or watching a movie on the couch. Be prepared for her to become your Heart Dog... she looks up at you with true admiration, as if you hang the moon in the nighttime sky. She's incredibly agile and smart, with instinct to herd: Something tell us if you put this dog in front of some sheep, she'd naturally know what to do. And she isn't shy about it... she will nip at the shoes of mailmen and house guests alike if left to her own devices. Fortunately she is most motivated by her loving bond with you, and redirects very easily. She is a good girl and wants to do the right thing, despite what her DNA tells her. She would be an excellent agility dog, between her wit, quickness, and desire to bond through shared games. She was found at a Chik-Fil-A and brought to an emergency vet clinic that was faced with euthanizing her. She was skeletal and dehydrated with these sorry, sunken-in eyes. She wouldn't let anyone touch her, and quivered in the corner with fear. This devoted girl is not the kind of dog to run off: She had no chip and it appeared she was dumped. She was covered in scars and had liquid diarrhea crusted into her coat. She would barely accept food, or lift her head. She has come a long way since that day, but she's still working on How To Dog. While it's easy to keep her attention in public and redirect her when something catches her attention, she can be reactive if you aren't diligent in her training, and she doesn't enjoy strangers petting her. She needs slow introductions with new people and animals that cross into her territory, but after breaking in the ice, she loves to play with other dogs. She is submissive to the 6 lb poodle in her foster home, and ignores the senior indoor cats. When meeting new dogs, she sometimes tries to herd them. In dog parks, she can feel awkward with the swarming groups of dogs, and just want to spend time with her person. She tends to play best with other herding dogs. Her best friends are Junior (border collie), Willow (Aussie), and Yuzu (heeler). She is crate trained and housebroken.
