About Cecil

Meet Cecil - Your Gentle Giant With a Heart of Gold! Looking for a calm, confident companion with a sweet soul? Say hello to Cecil, a big, beautiful boy with a stunning caramel coat and an even more beautiful personality. Cecil is the total package - gentle, curious, and quietly confident. He enjoys exploring his surroundings with an independent spirit but is just as happy lounging nearby, keeping you company with his calm presence. He's got a sweet, observant nature and loves to take in the world around him at his own relaxed pace. This charming boy thrives in a peaceful environment where he can be himself - easygoing, affectionate on his terms, and full of quiet charisma. Whether he's stretched out in a sunny spot or investigating a new scent trail, Cecil brings a calm joy wherever he goes. If you're ready to share your life with a low-key, lovable companion who marches to the beat of his own (very mellow) drum, Cecil might just be your perfect match. Come meet this caramel-colored sweetheart and let him show you what gentle love really looks like. Foster Notes: Cecil is a lovely, well-behaved dog who is very large and looks quite intimidating. He's sweet and affectionate to us, and he's reserved and a bit cautious around house guests. He tolerates their petting, but it appears that he hasn't had good experiences with strangers or with males. He's good inside the house: he's housebroken and stays off furniture. He can be left alone in the house, and he does well without a kennel. However, he can easily reach food on counters and will do so. He doesn't rush at doors, and he hasn't tried to escape from the house or yard. He is not trained to walk on a leash, and he's incredibly strong. It will take some serious effort to train him to walk on a leash without pulling; however, he's responsive to instructions most of the time. He knows how to sit and shake, and he's getting better at commands to lay down and stay. Outside, he likes to chase squirrels, rabbits, and birds, and it's hard to get his attention when he's engaged in the chase. He hasn't gone beyond the fenced border. He likes to dig, so watch your step when you're picking-up what a 100-lb dog leaves behind.
